Constructions for the World Wired Web
I began creating websites as a means to an end... to get a web presence on zero budget for a charity I volunteered with. Since then, I've carved pixels on a number of sites, some of which are below. You'll find web applications and plugins in the Code section.

BBC World Service Bangladesh River Journey
Summary
This mini-site, built for the BBC World Service, follows a trip across Bangladesh, tracking climate change and posting social media along the way.
Features
The site automatically collects the BBC's photos on Flickr, messages on Twitter and articles on the BBC World Service site, then plots them on to a Google Maps interface.
The site includes an API, microformats, GeoRSS and a whole load of technological trickery. Read more about the BBC Bangladesh River Journey on the Dharmafly blog.

A band management company, who manage The Subways - fire-powered rock n' rollers, following their dream...
Features
The site dynamically gathers posts from Goo Music and The Subways to Twitter, MySpace and other social networks. The posts are then enhanced with a number of different microformats, to help the content become more accessible from elsewhere on the Web.

Rafi.ki

A global social network that connects schoolchildren from every culture, religion, ethnicity and economy.
Features
Students and teachers access the Rafi.ki community through a Flash environment, from within their standard browser. They collaborate on school projects through video conferencing, instant messaging and email.
I designed and implemented the architecture of the community site. Most pages are private to schools, but you can take a look-see at the top-level of each section.

What's this? Politicians seeking grassroots guidance?
Ex-ministers Charles Clarke and Alan Milburn commissioned web company Bridging Unit to create the site, citing the need for interactive debate, rather than policy dictated from the top down. However, critics have suggested that stirring up the Labour Party leadership battle was the primary objective...
I acted as consultant to Bridging Unit, advising on architecture, functionality, usability and the user interface. Much media excitement surrounded the launch of this site - (BBC article and video, Guardian article).

Where else could you find a comparison of that Zinedine Zidance headbutt with ancient Yogic ideology? The Dharmasphere blog is a reflection on the eternal within the everyday... and happily uses the open-source WordPress blogging software.

Baba's Mystical Tour

Back in '04, a bus-load of yogi go-getters toured Europe for a summer of social service and spiritual high adventure.
Features
The site is a stretchy, toony skin around a tailor-made content management system. Would-be travellers booked their seats and coordinated logistics through the site. During the tour, escapades and realisations were broadcast via the blog and snapshot gallery.
